What is BMR?

BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate. Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body burns at rest to maintain normal body functions. It is the amount of calories per day your body burns, regardless of exercise. It changes with age, weight, height, gender, diet and exercise habits.

In order to ascertain the number of calories needed on a daily amount, your level of physical activity is needed.

  • Mostly inactive or sedentary (mainly sitting)
  • Fairly active (including walking and exercise once to twice a week)
  • Moderately active (exercise two to three times a week)
  • Active (exercise hard more than three times a week)
  • Very Active (exercise hard every day)

Now you have calculated your BMR and your calorie intake are you concerned that you are eating too many calories? Would you like to lose weight? Would you like to have more energy and feel motivated to achieve your goals? We can help you!

By filling in a food diary for a week we can  (if you are honest! ) look at see where you can lose calories by changing what you eat.  We will email you a food diary and we will ask you to record everything you eat and drink for 7 days. A detailed list of instructions will also be included and you can email us with any questions you may have.

Remember if weight loss is your intention then it is not just a case of counting calories, but is a whole behavioural change. The recommend intake for women is no more than 2000 calories a day and 2500 for men.  To lose weight this needs to be reduced by 500 calories.

For a complete dietary analysis of vitamins and minerals eaten we will include a report with recommendations for Cost £60
