Week Four of the Cookery Course and the group made Veggie Lasagne! The group's confidence in preparing the foods has increased and they are all keen to be involved as they know they will be enjoying a healthy nutritious meal at the end.
This week Sarah spoke about the benefits of cooking with lentils. This is what they learnt..... Lentils can help to lower cholesterol and they are of special benefit in managing blood sugar disorders such as diabetes. Their high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising rapidly after a meal. In addition to this they also provide good to excellent amounts of important minerals, B vitamins and protein - all with virtually no fat!
